Breezy conditions and seasonal temperatures continue, cooler weather ahead
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Residents across the region can expect mild spring weather to persist through the weekend, with temperatures hovering around seasonal norms.
Highs will remain in the low to mid-80s across the lower deserts, while overnight lows settle in the mid-to-upper 50s.
Skies will remain mostly clear, with some thin mid-to-high clouds moving in later Saturday. Breezy afternoons and evenings will continue, with gusts of 20-25 mph across most lower desert areas.
Stronger winds are expected in higher terrain east of Phoenix, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. In Imperial County, downsloping winds could bring gusts up to 35 mph, with isolated areas in the southwest corner seeing gusts as high as 50 mph.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for that area through Sunday morning.
A shift in the weather pattern is expected by midweek, bringing stronger winds and cooler temperatures. Highs will drop 5-10 degrees below normal, with daytime temperatures falling into the mid-70s by late next week.
Tuesday is expected to be the windiest day, with gusts reaching 30-40 mph across the region. Some areas could see stronger winds, leading to blowing dust concerns in desert regions.
While a trough will move through the area later in the week, rain chances remain slim. Forecast models suggest only a 10% chance of rain for lower desert areas on Friday, with slightly higher chances in elevated terrain. Most areas are expected to stay dry.
Residents should prepare for gusty conditions, cooler temperatures, and possible dust concerns in the coming days.
