Below-average temperatures and breezy to start the week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Below-normal temperatures are expected to continue into
tomorrow with highs remaining in the mod 90s across the Desert Southwest.

By tonight, temperatures will cool down nicely as we will be in the low 80s by 9 pm and overnight lows will eventually drop into the upper 60s.

Stronger winds tonight, bringing breezy conditions where stronger winds will be in Imperial County, with a west wind of 10 to 20 MPH, with gusts as high as 30 MPH.

A warming trend will start to take over through the latter half of this week as temperatures rise back to the triple digits starting Wednesday.

By the weekend, a ridge of high pressure will begin to expand, leading to the hottest temperatures of the year so far with highs approaching 105-107 degrees across the Desert Southwest.

UPDATE: Latest USGS gauge observations along Painted Rock Dam are indicating that water releases are decreasing with no further anticipation of further increases. As a result, water levels along the Gila River, downstream of the dam, will be on the decline during the next couple of days.

Despite the declines, A Flood Warning remains in effect through June 13th.
