Wrapping up the final day of August with hot temperatures

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - As the month of August is quickly coming to an end, we continue to battle the intense heat in the Desert Southwest.

An Excessive Heat Warning will remain for Imperial counties until 8 PM Monday.

A strong ridge of high pressure is bringing a major heat wave for the western region of the country, so high risk potential will remain for the rest of the week and into Labor Day.

Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler for the rest of the week with clear and sunny skies, but can't completely rule out having more days reaching 110+.
