News 11 Weather Authority: Active in the West

June 22nd, 2022

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Many of us awoke to some light rainfall and murky skies in parts of the Desert Southwest on this Wednesday.

This has translated to a couple of storm threats outside of Imperial County during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Thunderstorm cells South of Ocotillo have stalled after a previous build-up that started in the early afternoon.

Meanwhile, a small storm cluster has prompted the National Weather Service to enact a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Northeastern San Diego County, just to the West of the Salton Sea area.

On the temperature front, daytime highs peaked between 106 to 108 degrees, with increased moisture making it feel a few degrees hotter.

Expect the storm chances to quiet down further as we roll into the overnight hours.
