News 11 Weather Authority: 1st taste of Monsoon Season

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Less than a week after the official start of Monsoon Season, our area may receive it's 1st chances of showers and thunderstorms.

In conjuction with an increasingly strong ridge, a few embedded disturbances could trigger some isolated to scattered thunderstorms through the course of the rest of this workweek.

Even though the chances of storms are greater in the higher elevations in Eastern, Northern and Central Arizona; the outflow energy from this activity has the potential to spill into the Desert Southwest the rest of this week and into the next weekend.
