News 11 Weather Authority: Near excessive heat

June 16th, 2022

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Our desert heat took a bit of a jump on this Thursday, but we fell just short of excessive levels.

The National Weather Service lifted the Excessive Heat Warning that was projected for most of the Desert Southwest for much of this week.

Thursday's daytime highs ranged from 108 to 111 degrees, with some winds gusting between 16 to 24 miles per hour.

A abnormally deep trough for the month of June is rolling in from the West and will allow our temperatures to sink through Father's Day weekend.

By the time we reach Dad's Day, daytime highs shouldn't exceed the range of 99 to 101 degrees.
