News 11 Weather Authority: Excessive heat begins

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Excessive Heat Warning begins here in the Desert Southwest.

A tandem of high pressure ridges from the West and the East are in the process of intensifying the already hot temperatures.

Thursday's daytime highs have peaked in the neighborhood of 107 to 111 degrees.

The heat will continue to surge in the coming days, with near record to potential record-breaking high temps for the coming weekend.

The Excessive Heat Warning should expire this coming Sunday night.
