Wind concerns coming

Wind advisory set for the Imperial Valley on Friday.

researchgate.net

The Desert Southwest has just endured a 2-day excessive heat event, with daytime temperature ranges between 110 to 112 degrees throughout the area.

But, our area is looking at another advisory for Friday that has everything to do with impending wind gusts.

An area of low pressure will generate significant wind gusts that will range from 25 to 30 miles per hour in the Yuma area and 35 to 40 miles per hour in the Imperial Valley.

This has inspired the National Weather Service to enact a Wind Advisory for the Imperial Valley for Friday, between 2pm and 11pm.

Don't be surprised if visibility is reduced in some areas, due to blowing dust by the late afternoon and evening hours.

The silver lining to the disturbance will be the ushering of a cooling trend that will put our daytime highs in the 90's for the upcoming weekend and into the 1st couple of days of next week.
