High wind advisory in effect for the valley area

(KYMA, KECY)- A high wind advisory is in effect for parts of southeast California and southwest Arizona.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), winds coming from the North at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected until Wednesday night.

Areas that are affected in Arizona include Parker Valley. In California, Blythe, Joshua Tree National Park, Chuckwalla Mountains, Chiriaco Summit, and Palo Verde Valley are all affected until 9:00 pm MST Wednesday.

High winds can have a severe impact on driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne.

Strong winds over desert areas could also result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand.
