Breezy conditions return before weekend warm-up

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - After a brief stretch of cooler-than-normal temperatures, conditions across Yuma and the Lower Colorado River Valley are beginning to shift once again.

Wednesday brought a noticeable cooldown, one of the few below-average days the region has seen in over a month, but that trend won't last long.

Breezy conditions are expected to return over the next couple of days, especially Thursday and Friday.

Wind gusts could reach 20 to 25 miles per hour, with even stronger gusts possible in typically wind-prone areas across Imperial County and along the Colorado River.

By Friday morning, winds could become locally strong, creating elevated fire weather concerns, particularly with very dry conditions in place.

Temperatures will hover near seasonal averages through the end of the workweek: Humidity levels will drop into the single digits, increasing fire danger despite lighter winds.

Early next week, another weather system could bring a slight dip in temperatures, but no significant rain is expected.
