Temperatures start stretch of rise

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - After experiencing the high 60s and low 70s on Saturday, the Desert Southwest is seeing a big pick-up in temperatures. The Imperial Valley will experience the upper 70s, while Yuma County can anticipate highs in the low 80s. This is only the beginning of rising temps, as well. They should reach the 90s by Wednesday at latest.

As for wind gusts, Sunday evening will be calm. Heading into Monday, gusts could reach into the 17-20mph range in the afternoon for Yuma. These are not expected to stick around for more than a couple of hours, however.

Cloudier conditions will be in and out of the region throughout the week, but none of our days over the next week or so are currently tracking to be extremely cloudy.

Expect the desert to start to live up to its name this week as we move closer to the end of winter.
