Warm weekend ahead before storm brings rain and cooler air

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Desert Southwest is drying out after a few light showers Friday, with warm and sunny conditions expected this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, highs will reach the low to mid 70s Saturday and climb into the upper 70s Sunday across the lower deserts.

Skies will stay mostly clear with drier air moving in.

A stronger storm system arrives Monday, bringing scattered showers, breezy to windy conditions and cooler temperatures.

Most lower desert areas could see up to a quarter inch of rain, with higher amounts possible in the mountains.

Highs will cool into the upper 60s by midweek, marking the chilliest stretch so far this month.
