Weather keeps repeating itself ahead of Groundhog Day

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - You may have stepped outside to get a feel for the weather and gotten confused on what day of the week it was, until you ultimately realized it's Sunday, and you're heading back to work Monday.

There's nothing I can do about the inevitable return to your 9-to-5, but I can tell you that these weather trends are about as consistent as they can get, which may have led to the confusion on what day it was.

After temperatures escalated throughout the week, they reached complacency in the low 80s Saturday in the Desert Southwest. It's looking to stay that way through the next couple of days.

Along with the persistent temperature trends that are about 10-12°F above average for this time of year, winds will remain consistently calm in the region.

Gusts aren't expected to hit double digits until late Tuesday morning, as we are currently tracking.

Groundhog Day is Monday and Punxsutawney Phil is going to come to a decision for millions of people if winter will last another six weeks or if an early spring is upon us.

Regardless of if the groundhog sees his shadow, this recent weather pattern in the Desert Southwest is proving that the region is already getting a taste of spring.
