Ice coats lighthouse in Michigan ahead of Arctic front

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (CBS, KYMA) - Thick ice coated a lighthouse off the coast of Grand Haven, Michigan Wednesday, ahead of an Arctic front expected to bring hazardously cold temperatures to the region.

The footage was captured and posted to Facebook by Nathan Voytovick, who operates Nate's Dronography, with a caption reading, "The Grand Haven Lighthouse has its famous ice beard back…Lake Michigan is rapidly freezing as well…feet of solid ice."

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast wind chills below zero through Sunday morning.

"The worst conditions are expected Thursday night into Saturday morning where wind chills could reach -20 [Fahrenheit]. Make sure to limit time outdoors, dress warmly, and check on family, friends, and neighbors," the NWS wrote on X.
