Winter temps continue, potential for high winds on Sunday

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Desert Southwest is finally experiencing winter temperatures. Highs are expected to remain in the 60s this weekend, with a few areas potentially breaking into the low 70s.

Along with the cooler temps, wind gusts will be felt on Sunday, more so in Yuma County. As is currently being tracked, gusts will remain comfortable throughout Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

That will change as the late morning, early afternoon time frame comes about, however. Gusts will exceed 20 mph in the greater Yuma area and consistently remain there into Monday.

In the Imperial Valley, wind gusts will be more inconsistent and sporadically get above 20 mph throughout Sunday afternoon and evening. This pattern will also carry into Monday.

Clouds may take over the sky, but overcast conditions will not be too prominent, even if apparent. This will not lead to any rainfall for the next couple of days, but there is a chance closer to New Year's Day.
