Warm stretch continues with temperatures well above normal
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A strong ridge of high pressure will keep Yuma and Imperial counties locked into an unusually warm pattern through the weekend, with temperatures running 10–15 degrees above normal for mid-December.
Daytime highs will stay in the upper 70s to lower 80s from now through Sunday — a level of warmth more typical of early fall than the second week of December. The air mass over the region remains very warm and stable, and each day is expected to look similar with only a few degrees of day-to-day variation.
Dry weather will also hold in place. No rain is expected through at least next week, and skies will remain mostly clear except for passing high clouds late in the weekend. Light winds will continue following normal daytime breezes, with calm or nearly calm conditions overnight.
Looking into next week, temperatures may briefly dip into the mid-70s around Tuesday or Wednesday as a weak disturbance brushes the region, but any cooldown will be minor and short-lived. High pressure is forecast to rebuild late next week, bringing temperatures right back into the mid- to upper-70s and possibly near 80 again.
Humidity levels will stay comfortably above critical fire-weather thresholds, with afternoons generally in the 20–30% range and overnight recoveries between 50–70%.
Overall, the pattern stays warm, dry and quiet with no weather hazards expected across Yuma or Imperial counties.
