Storms still circulating around Desert Southwest
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Showers and scattered thunderstorms remain in the forecast for Yuma and Imperial Counties, with the main threat being heavy rain and localized flooding.
The National Weather Service says a Flood Watch is in effect through tonight for much of southwest Arizona and southeast California, including our area. Some spots could see up to one to two inches of rainfall, especially if storms linger.
Moisture is streaming in from the south, fueling storm chances across the desert southwest. While cloud cover and cooler air may limit how widespread the storms get, Yuma and Imperial Counties are expected to be among the most unstable areas today meaning the strongest storms could fire here.
Heading into Friday and Saturday, rain chances stick around but should become more scattered. By Sunday, conditions look to dry out, with temperatures beginning to climb back closer to normal by early next week.
For now, residents are urged to watch for flooding in low-lying areas and avoid driving on water-covered roads.
