Storm chances depleting with temps staying below average

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Residents in Yuma and Imperial Counties can expect more unsettled weather over the next couple of days, with storm chances and cooler temperatures moving in.

For Wednesday, conditions will stay mostly dry with only a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms developing later.

However, forecasters say Thursday brings a much better setup for storm activity, with the possibility of strong winds, blowing dust, heavy downpours, and localized flooding. Rain chances may linger into Friday as moisture continues to stream into the region.

Temperatures are also on the decline. After a stretch of triple-digit days, highs will fall back into the upper 90s by Thursday and could dip to the low-to-mid 90s on Friday, several degrees below seasonal averages.

Skies will also be cloudier heading into the end of the week, keeping the daytime heat in check.

Looking ahead, the weekend trend points drier, with storm chances tapering off by Sunday. Sunshine will return and temperatures are expected to climb back toward normal early next week.
