High wind gusts opening potential for poor air quality as extreme heat warning nears its end
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A few strong storms will be possible Sunday, primarily between Phoenix and Yuma, with high winds and blowing dust as the main threats, according to the National Weather Service.
While chances are on the lower side, there is a shot that eastern portions of Yuma County gets hit with rain showers and thunderstorms as we move into Monday.
Over in the Imperial Valley, the National Weather Service is calling for potential isolated storms Sunday evening.
Sunday is the final day of the current extreme heat warning across the Desert Southwest, set to end at 8 p.m. MST.
Temperatures are expected to drop back into the low 100 °F range as as we head into the beginning of the week.
