Dangerous heat continues in Yuma and Imperial County

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Extreme heat remains locked over Yuma and Imperial County as another brutal stretch of triple-digit temperatures continues.

Friday's highs reached 112 degrees in Yuma and 111 degrees in El Centro, and conditions will remain dangerously hot through Saturday evening under an Excessive Heat Warning.

Forecasters say Saturday could bring even hotter temperatures, with highs up to 114 degrees and poor overnight cooling.

An Extreme Heat Watch is also in place for early next week, with another round of extreme temperatures expected Tuesday through Friday.

Rain chances remain near zero, and there's little monsoon activity in the forecast.

Residents are urged to stay indoors during the afternoon, drink plenty of water, and watch out for signs of heat illness.
