Desert temps rebound to seasonal norms
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – It's been a mild start to the week across the Desert Southwest, with temperatures sitting a few degrees below normal, but that relief won't last long.
According to the National Weather Service, a gradual warming trend will kick in midweek, pushing highs closer to seasonal averages by the weekend. That means the return of the familiar desert heat though not at extreme levels just yet.
Forecasters say heat risk will rise from minor to moderate across the region, especially heading into Friday and Saturday.
While that's not unusual for late July, it's a reminder that hydration and shade remain essential for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
By the second half of the week, humidity will also begin to drop, making the dry heat even more pronounced across areas like Yuma and Imperial counties. Afternoon humidity levels could dip as low as five to 10%, with poor overnight recovery.
Winds will remain typical for this time of year, with light morning breezes and occasional afternoon gusts.
So while the start of the week feels more manageable, the region is set to heat back up soon. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and keep checking back for updated forecasts.
