A calm, warm weekend ahead in the Desert Southwest
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Another quiet stretch of weather continues across the Desert Southwest, with mostly sunny skies and warm, manageable temperatures on tap through the weekend and into next week.
Highs across the lower deserts including Yuma and the Imperial Valley will generally range between 102 and 107 degrees, staying near or just below the seasonal norm.
While that's still hot by most standards, it's a slight break from the more intense heat waves we typically see this time of year.
The National Weather Service in Phoenix says most of the region will remain dry, with only a small chance for isolated showers or weak thunderstorms over higher terrain in northeastern La Paz County and parts of southeast Arizona.
But here at lower elevations, rain chances remain near zero through at least the middle of next week.
Breezy afternoons are possible, especially heading into the weekend, but no strong wind events are expected. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees, offering a bit of relief after daytime heating.
Looking ahead, the overall weather pattern looks stable keeping humidity levels low and storm chances east of our area.
Minor to moderate heat risk is still in place, so take usual precautions outdoors: Stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity in the afternoon, and don't forget the sunscreen.
We'll keep tracking any changes, but for now, it's business as usual: Hot, dry, and mostly calm across the Desert Southwest.
