Dry Fourth of July forecast, warming ahead

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - If you're making outdoor plans for Thursday night or Friday's Fourth of July celebrations, you're in luck it's shaping up to be a dry and seasonably warm holiday.

A weak weather system passing through Nevada Thursday is helping push dry air into southwestern Arizona. That system could still spark a stray shower or storm in parts of northern and central Arizona this evening, but in Yuma and the surrounding lower deserts, rain chances remain near zero.

We'll keep an eye on any gusty winds that could move in from the southwest models show a 30–50% chance of winds stronger than 35 miles per hour reaching the Phoenix metro, but impacts locally should be limited.

By Friday, high pressure begins to rebuild over the region, kicking off a warming trend. Expect afternoon highs in the low 100s Friday, with mostly sunny skies and dry air sticking around through Saturday.

Looking ahead, temperatures will soar closer to 110° by Sunday with widespread Moderate HeatRisk expected across the lower deserts.

There's still uncertainty next week about whether monsoon moisture will return but for now, all signs point to continued dry and hot conditions into early next week.

Stay cool and hydrated, and keep checking in for the latest forecast updates.
