Heavy rain hits Albuquerque during thunderstorm

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Heavy rain lashed Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a severe thunderstorm passed through the city Monday.

Footage posted to social media shows moonson-like conditions at an intersection.

A thunderstorm passed through the metropolitan area, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported Monday, bringing strong winds and quarter-sized hail.

"Locally heavy rainfall rates of 0.5 inches in half an hour may cause quick rises in arroyos," the NWS said.
