NBC 11 Sports: Olivares becomes next Raider to continue soccer at college level, Holtville and Imperial dominate All-League softball awards

YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - With already several Cibola Raider soccer players making the commitment to the college level, Damian Olivares became the next in line earlier this week.

The senior midfielder signed his commitment to Ottawa University of Arizona to join the Spirit on the soccer pitch - which is something he dreamed of doing since his freshman year.

"Today is what I've been working towards for the last four years. I've always wanted to do this since my freshman year of high school, and I'm just happy it's coming true," said Olivares. "I'm just looking to mature more. I really to owe it to myself and turn into a man I've always dreamed of wanting to be."

Off the field, Damian plans on studying exercise science.

Plus, the end of the year spring sports recap of league honors comes to a close with softball in the Imperial Valley. This after All-League teams and Player/Coach of the Year honors were named for both the Imperial Valley League and Desert League.
