Matador men get revenge over Yavapai for second straight title while women earn second title in program history
YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - The Arizona Western men's soccer team looked for their second second consecutive Region I Title on Friday. The Matadors entered the late afternoon contest with revenge on their minds. Arizona Western's lone loss in conference play this season game on the road at Yavapai on October 5th. The Matadors lost on that day 2-1 and on Friday, the Matadors returned the favor with a 2-1 at Matador Field.
The Matadors will play in the West District Championship game at the winner of Region 18 on Saturday, November 5 for an automatic bid to the NJCAA DI Men’s Soccer Championship.
In the late tilt, the Lady Matadors looked to add another page to the history books as they hosted Cochise in the Region I final. Arizona Western defeated Cochise in ACCAC play 6-0 on October 11th at Matador Field. Friday night was no different as the Lady Matadors kept their perfect season intact with a 5-0 win over the Apaches.
Lady Matadors will host the West District Championship game against the winner of Region 18 on Saturday, November 5 at 7:00 pm at Matador Soccer Field.
