Demand for blood continues to climb

The Red Cross says the U.S is facing a "severe shortage" caused by the pandemic

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - The Red Cross is saying there is a demand for blood due to the pandemic and are seeing a rise in red cell demand.

While all blood types are needed, type O and B are the most in demand.

Platelet donations are also needed.

The Red Cross says it's in need of sustained donations through the summer.
