Holtville softball smashes forward

The #2 seeded Holtville Vikings only needed five innings to dismantle #3 seed La Jolla

HOLTVILLE, Calif. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - Zamara Gutierrez pitched five strong innings while striking out five batter as the Holtville Vikings softball team advanced to round 3 of the CIF San Diego Section Division IV playoffs.

Gutierrez allowed an unearned run in the top of the first to #3 seed La Jolla but the Holtville bats had her back. The Vikings scores three in the home half of the first, added two more in the second, three in the third and hung five in the fourth. The second seed Holtville only needed five innings to defeat La Jolla. Holtville cruises 13-1 and next jump to round four and will host the next game in Holtville on Thursday.
