Vikings wrestlers sail to CIF Division championship

Holtville claims three individual champions enroute to first title since 2017

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - Over the weekend the Holtville Vikings boys wrestling team grappled their way to the CIF San Diego Section Division IV title. It was the first team title since 2017. Imperial finished second but had won the previous two titles.

The Vikings won the team title in dominating fashion, finishing with a team score of 216.5, well ahead of second place Imperial's 151.5 finish. Mater Dei Catholic and Mountain Empire of Pine Valley tied for third.

Holtville's individual champions are junior Donovan Johnston at 122 pounds, freshman Seth Iten at 147 pounds and Nicholas Villegas at 222 pounds.
