CBS 13 Sports: Hawks surging to postseason

Both the Gila Ridge baseball and softball teams make a push for state playoff berths

YUMA, Ariz. ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - The Gila Ridge baseball team found themselves ranked #13 in the latest 5A rankings released on Thursday afternoon. The top 16 teams advance to the state playoffs and Gila Ridge looked to further cement their spot with a doubleheader at home versus Yuma High. The Hawks won game one 12-0 and the second game 18-2 improving their overall record to 11-5. The Hawks have won five of their pst six games. The softball team also found themselves ranked #13. The Lady Hawks rolled Yuma 20-0, improving their overall record to 12-4. Both the softball team and baseball team will wrap up their regular seasons next week with two games against Kofa.
