It's going to be a fantastic Father's Day weekend as we will have lots of sunshine, dry conditions, and seasonable temperatures. Enjoy it, tracking intense heat late next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Friday! Today is a nice and seasonable day as we have highs in the lower 100s. Take a look.

For the next 12-hour it will be a pleasant and great evening to spend some time outdoors on this Friday night.

However those in Imperial County it will be another breezy and windy evening as I am tracking more westerly winds and gusts between 20-30 MPH.

Those who are in Imperial County, be safe and stay indoors if you can patchy blowing dust is also possible.

It's almost summer! The Summer Solstice officially begins in the Desert Southwest on Sunday June 21st at 1:24 a.m.

What is the Summer Solstice? The summer solstice is an astronomical event marking the longest day and shortest night of the year. It happens when one of Earth’s poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun, initiating the start of astronomical summer.

This is also a sign that the hottest days of the year are approaching.

Tracking a sunny and dry Father's Day weekend with seasonable temperatures. It will be warm, but not as hot, so enjoy it because we are in for extreme heat late next week.

Even though this weekend isn't going to be as hot, you will still want to practice heat safety, especially if you are going to be spending time outdoors.
