Research finds thermometers are not accurate among black patients
A new study finds certain types of thermometers may not be accurate among black patients.
The study looked at temperatures on foreheads versus in the mouth.
Those thermometers detected fevers in 10.1 percent of black patients.
While oral thermometers found fevers in 13.2 percent of that population.
Researchers say that means up to 23 percent of fevers in black patients could go undetected with these devices.
White patients did not show the same inaccuracies.
