Agencies warn on cold weather risks, urge boosters

(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - The FDA is urging Americans to get their COVID-19 booster shots, warning about a higher risk of infection coming this fall.

The FDA commissioner says only about half of eligible Americans have received their first booster.

The CDC points out that Americans who are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines cut their risk of dying compared to the unvaccinated.

But Coronavirus isn't the only illness government officials are concerned about.

An outbreak of flu in Australia in recent months points to the possibility of a bad flu season in the U.S..
