Snapchat competes with Zoom
(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Zoom could soon be getting a run for its money from an unlikely competitor: snap-chat.
Until now, snap-chat has only been available on mobile devices.
But on Monday, the social media platform launched a web-based version of its popular messaging app.
The company says it wanted users to have the freedom to switch between their phones and computers while continuing their conversations on the platform.
But the web-based option also puts snap-chat in a position to go after some of zoom's video-conferencing market share.
It comes amid rising popularity of snap-chat's video calling feature, which lets users start calls with up to 15 participants per session.
