Botched execution inmate Christa Pike discharged from hospital

(NBC, KYMA) - Death row inmate Christa Pike is out of the hospital and back in a Tennessee prison following her botched execution more than a week ago.

Her attorneys say Pike will continue to receive medical care at the same prison where she has been for more than 30 years.

She was set to be executed by lethal injection on September 30th but she survived and was taken to a Nashville hospital in critical condition.

Her attorneys say she later woke up angry and confused.

Pike was sentenced to death after being convicted of murdering 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in 1995.

Tennessee's governor has suspended all executions for the rest of the year while investigators look into the botched execution of Pike.
