An abandoned infant found at shopping center in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (NBC, KYMA) - An investigation is underway in Indianapolis, Indiana after an abandoned baby was found at a shopping center Monday evening.

Authorities responded to the shopping center last night around 7 p.m. to find a child they say had been intentionally left behind the shopping center.

The child was in a carrier and was not injured.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the child to come forward and tips can be anonymous.

The child was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.

Indiana's Safe Haven Law allows moms in crisis to give up an unwanted infant without fear of prosecution.

Children can be placed in a Safe Haven baby box which are located at fire stations across the state including in Indianapolis where the child was found.
