Flood waters destroy Hazel Dell Parkway bridge in Indiana

CARMEL, Ind. (NBC, KYMA) - A section of road in Indiana was washed away as historic flooding continues in the state.

This happened along the Hazel Dell Parkway in Carmel.

Hamilton County Highway Director Bradley Davis said flash flooding hit the opening of the structure in a short window of time.

Washing out dirt and pavement around the bridge causing it to collapse.

Davis says crews are now working to determine if the bridge's foundation is sound and whether or not it can be repaired or need to be replaced.

However, they don't have a timeline for when the road will be drivable again.
