Cherry picking season ends in Michigan

ANTRIM COUNTY, Mich. (NBC, KYMA) - Cherry picking season is coming to end at one Antrim County farm wrapping up a disappointing season after harsh weather conditions.

The owner of king orchards says the last of the sweet cherries were picked from the orchard this week.

The orchard says the cherries harvested at the end of the season are mid-quality because of the "extremely violent rainfall".

The weather conditions led to cherries cracking and some molding.

Orchard owner Jack King says tart cherries are even more fragile than the sweet cherries. King says that tart cherries shelf life last for 24 hours.

If you don't know how you want to use them, you should freeze them so they don't go bad and eventually go to waste.
