Rob Reiner and his wife found dead in their Los Angeles home

(NBC, KYMA) - Two bodies were found at the Los Angeles home of Rob Reiner Sunday afternoon.

According to a source close to the Reiner family, Reiner and his wife were found dead inside the residence from apparent stab wounds.

However, police have not confirmed their identities or what caused their deaths as they are waiting for reports from the Los Angeles Coroner's Office to determine that information.

"The Los Angeles Police Department is now conducting an investigation at this residence here on Chadbourne [Avenue] and that investigation will continue over the coming days," said Alan Hamilton, Chief of Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officials responded to the home shortly before 4:00 p.m. to respond to reports of two bodies found at the home.

Reiner is well known for his portrayal of Michael "Meathead" Stivic on the groundbreaking sitcom "All in the Family," winning two Emmy Awards as Archie Bunker's son-in-law.

He directed films such as "This is Spinal Tap," "Stand By Me," "The Princess Bride," "When Harry Met Sally," "Misery" and "A Few Good Men," which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Most recently, he appeared in four episodes of the Hulu TV show "The Bear" and in "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues," which he also directed.
