UPDATE: Military plane carrying 5 Marines crashed near Glamis
UPDATE: June 8 - 8:00 p.m.
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - According to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, five marines were inside a Marine Corps Osprey aircraft when it crashed in a desert near Glamis, California.
Maj. Mason Englehart of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing says the Osprey belonged to a base at Camp Pendleton and the crash happened during training.
He would not give any further details regarding the five Marines involved in the incident.

News 11 has reached out to MCAS Yuma. The base is aware of the crash and will provide more information as soon as it becomes available.
The crash happened by State Route 78 and Coachella Canal Road.
No word on any injuries or fatalities or number of people on the aircraft.
Naval Air Facility El Centro has confirmed there was no nuclear material in the airplane.
