Italo Ferreira wins first Olympic surfing gold medal

Brazil’s Italo Ferreira defeated Japan’s Kanoa Igarashi 15.14 to 6.60 in the first Olympic surfing gold medal match. Ferreira posted a 7.77 and a 7.37 on his two highest-scoring waves.
