U.S. Marine mascot visits Yuma for the first time

YUMA, Ariz. (KYM, KECY) - The official mascot of the Marine Corps Recruitment Depot in San Diego (MCRDSD) visited Yuma for the first time.

Lance Corporal Bruno is one of only three official mascots in the entire Marine Corps.

The two-year-old English bulldog is named after Major General Bruno Hocmuth, he Commander of the MCRDSD from 1963 to 1967.

His handler and fellow marine explains why Bruno is such a morale booster.

"Seeing people faces light up and how excited they get when they see him and how excited he gets because he loves attention…He is my roommate as well so he's quite a snorer and a little gassy too but you get used to it," says Cpl. Sarah Grawcock.

During his trip to Yuma, Bruno visited students at Fourth Avenue Junior High School and spent time with locals at the airshow over the weekend.
