Monday is Presidents Day

Pixabay

(CNN, KYMA) - Monday, February 16, 2026 marks George Washington's birthday, which most people call Presidents Day.

The government considered changing it, but that never happened. Despite that, it became popularly known as Presidents Day.

Most people now consider it a time to also honor the former presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.

The modern calendar puts Washington's birth on February 22, but a 1971 law places the holiday on the third Monday of the month.
