Cities across the country celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - St. Patrick's Day celebrations kicked off around the country over the weekend.

In Boston, hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets for the 122nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration. Groups of people were decked out in green.

Parade floats and marchers wound through the neighborhood of South Boston, a center of Irish-American heritage in a city where more than one in every five people are of Irish decent.

In Pennsylvania, the 255th Annual Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade marched through the streets with pride.

Philadelphians and visitors wore their green and celebrated throughout center city, leading up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The parade is the second-oldest in the country.
