Brawley artist honored for service to Mid-Winter Fair

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A man from Brawley was honored and awarded for years of dedication to the Mid-Winter Fair.

Ted Flores was selected by the Mid-Winter Fair's Board of Directors to receive a Blue Ribbon Award.

Flores is a Brawley native who led the design and construction of the Preble Building display.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said the 73-year-old Flores of the award. “It was such an honor.”

The award was presented on the day before the fair's official opening.

“As a designer and builder, Ted is really crucial to our fair because he makes our themes come alive year after year,” said Board President Cherisse Alford. “I don’t know what we would do without him. His work is just so amazing.”

Flores has previously worked designing a display for the Capitol building in Sacramento, fairs across California, and the Mid-Winter Fair.
