Connecticut couple started businesses based off their pig

GLASTRONBURY, Conn. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A family from Connecticut can be "party animals." Literally.

Their pet pigs not only have quite the following on social media, they travel all across New England spreading joy.

While people play with their dogs, and parents are at the park with kids, the Burns family of Glastonbury can't leave the house without their tail wagging, treat loving pet pigs.

"We basically put a leash on him, socialized him; took him out for car rides to parks and walked him," Michelle Burns said.

At first, the sight of the four-legged friends stops people in their tracks. But once they meet three-month-old Meadow, and three-year-old Gilbert, they quickly learn he's quite the ham.

'Gilbert the Party Animal'

In fact, Gilbert is the definition of a domesticated party animal. About a year ago, his human mom, Michelle, a former preschool teacher, brought him to school and the kids couldn't get enough.

"We ended up getting phone calls texts, emails, 'Can they come to my birthday party? 'Can they come to the nursing home libraries my school?'" Burns said.

From there, she started 'Gilbert the Party Pig.' As of now, the animal is invited to events and celebrations all over alongside his sister.

"This tops everything I've ever done. I mean you are making people happy. You're your own boss your own schedule. It's great," Burns concluded.
