YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - The Desert Lily Quilters raised $4,000 for the 4th Avenue Gym Athletic Foundation from their 2022 Annual Quilt show.

“The $4,000 is just a huge number and it will help us out a lot,” said President of the 4th Avenue Gym Athletic Foundation Justin Haile.

Every year the Desert Lily Quilters club creates a special quilt to raise money so it can go to a great cause.

Handing the $4,000 check over to the 4th Avenue Gym Athletic Foundation.

“I give the schools a budget and then they give me their wish list and we go out and get them what they want and you know it could be ice machines, scoreboards, uniforms, new equipment, upholstery, wall pads, I mean you name it we really try to tackle anything they ask for within the budget,” said Haile.

The quilters are thrilled.

“It is a great feeling, anybody who does charitable work knows what a great feeling it is internally and it serves the community, it helps and you know yeah it means a lot,” said Desert Lily Quilter member Coleen Jackson.

A generous gift like this goes a long way.

“I just like to say thank you the Desert Lily Quilters for believing in me and my foundation and it’s just huge to get that $4,000 check today, I’ll make sure the money is well spent,” said Haile.

The Desert Lily Quilters already have their 2023 opportunity quilt made now they’re deciding who their next charity will be.

Once the quilters club decides their next charity they will be selling raffle tickets starting in March and they will be sold all year long.
