NBC 11 Sports: Yuma Catholic gets big playoff win

Cibola has top finishers in sectionals, Kofa swimmer competes at state championship.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma Catholic headed up to Goodyear to take on Millennium High School in the first round of the 5A Conference playoffs.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Shamrocks allowed zero points and won 35-28.

Cibola cross-country continued its terrific season with a great showing at sectionals this week.

Caius Lastra (15:47) finished in first place, and will compete in the state championship along with three qualifiers from the girls meet: Isabella Ochoa (20:03), Marina Corona (20:12) and Maliyah Wills (21:17).

Kofa swimmer Will Rouff (1:01.74) competed in the 100 meter breast stroke in the state championship, finishing in 14th place.
