NBC 11 Sports: AWC to support cancer research through Play4Kay

Both Matador basketball programs will honor cancer survivors and fighters during Saturday's contest against Eastern Arizona College

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks defeated the Kofa Kings 45-31 at Ernest Rillos Gym on Friday night.

Despite being handed the defeat, it was a night of celebration for Kofa athletics. The Kings inducted their 2026 Hall of Fame class during the girls and boys doubleheader matchup against the Hawks.

Meanwhile at Arizona Western College, their basketball program prepares to hold a Play4Kay event during Saturday's games against the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters.

All money raised will go towards cancer research in honor of legendary coach Kay Yow who battled breast cancer for 22-years.
