NBC 11 Sports: Lady Matadors ride big second half to Game 1 win

Cibola and Kofa High School have top finishers at Arizona state cross country meet. Imperial Valley College women's basketball gets first win of season, Chargers and Cardinals both lose big.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Arizona Western women's soccer got a big 6-0 win over Trinity Valley in game one of pool play in the national tournament. Five goals came in the second half.

Cibola boys cross country placed 16th as a team in the state meet with Caius Lastra (16:06.7) finishing third overall individually; it also tied Lastra for the second best finish at the state meet in school history. Gavin Bermudez (17:09.6) also finished in 46th.

Marina Corona (20:38.6) was the highest finisher out of the girls in 42nd place, with Isabella Ochoa (21:00.8) finishing in 52nd place and Maliyah Wills (21:44.8) at 81st also finishing in the top 100.

Kofa cross country runner Sabrina Anaya also had a tremendous day, finishing in 15th place.

The Imperial Valley Desert Warriors women's basketball team picked up win number this weekend with a 55-42 win over Oxnard.

Kofa High School alum Shantal Montiel led the way with 29 points and eight rebounds while also shooting eight-for-15 from third-point range.
